Scientific Research

Evidence about what works (and does not work) is essential to provide effective support to parents, schools and policy makers. Research is at the heart of what we do.

By supporting established researchers from a multidisciplinary background, we generate innovative ideas that translate into concrete solutions to promote early childhood development and increase literacy and numeracy in Côte d'Ivoire.

Our current research projects

  • Promoting the literacy development for children in cocoa communities

This study will help improve our understanding of the cognitive basis of learning in low-resource settings and their impact on classroom outcomes. Our objective is to provide a scientific framework for implementing classroom solutions that take into account the child and learning mechanisms.

  • All kids learn

Through a randomized controlled trial in 120 communities, the study assesses the role of unconditional cash transfers (UCTs) and teacher training, both separately and in combination, in reducing child labor and promoting learning.

  • Assessing the impact of education policies on children’s learning outcomes

Using state-of-the-art methodologies and econometric analyses, this research project seeks to understand the competing forces that affect parents’ motivation and influence their decisions about investments in their children's education.
