Stories from the field
Plenty of research has looked at how children learn, but most studies have focused on children who live in developed countries. We are doing first-of-its kind research in cocoa communities in Ivory Coast to gather evidence to guide education policy in low-resource environments. Here’s an example of one of our research projects.
Global actors like cocoa and chocolate companies have the potential to change the lives of millions of people. They can be essential in changing education systems. Here’s how we are working hand in hand with one of our 10 industry partners to increase quality of education and help out-of-school children have a smooth transition to the classroom.
Sanata didn’t have the chance to receive quality schooling as a child. Years ago, she migrated to a cocoa-growing region in Ivory Coast. For a few months, she has been following a literacy training course in her community. This has helped her to become involved with her own kids’ education, as she can now help them at home in the evenings.
